Wages paid by mistake

Hey, can anyone give me their opinion on where I stand on this
Last month I was let go from my job, I was paid for that month, but now this month they have paid me again by a mistake on their part. I was working for their Dublin office but their head office is in another part of the country, and it seems my boss in the Dublin office never notified them I was no longer working there.
They now want the money back, am I obliged to give it back to them?

Any help on this would be great.

Put it this way (this is not legal advice :))
If they failed to pay you you'd be here same time, same place asking for legal advice on how to sue the fools in payroll for your months wages.

    Give the money back.
You may think "what harm, they won't miss it", and you're correct the company won't miss it.
But the payroll clerk who messed up may be sacked over it.

Yes, you are. But you might want to wait till they ask ;)

Yes you are, and by law, if they come looking for it, you will hav to give it to them. Im not too sure if you have to tell them, but I suspect you are otherwise you will be committing fraud by definition.

    ^^
Just to add to what WWM said, you would indeed have to inform them that they have provided you with too much money. Retrieving the cash would be technically at their expense, but you can't refuse them access to it (e.g. refusing to write a cheque or do a bank transfer).
