    Ok, quick question for ye..

We've all heard of the sayings:
'Im on top of the world,
'dont let the cat out of the bag'
    'im green with envy'
    'Im over the moon'
    'Im tickled pink'
    blah blah blah.....

But what does 'My head is lifting' mean?! You got a headache? Sick?
Its written here in one of the childrens textsbook and I hvnt a clue. Can't say I'v ever heard of it..nor has my family..any ideas?

I was regularly the cause of my Mother's 'head lifting'. Drove the poor woman mad. I think it means that you are stressed, have a lousy headache and feel dizzy or lightheaded.

Haven't you watched South Park? It means your child is hanging around with a stoner.

Seriously, it means sick. I'd have taken it to mean light-headed; but I think it's more commonly used for a headache.

Ye have just made an educational difference in the lives of 30 kiddies!:D

It's actually printed in the book? or you have 30 kiddies?

If it's the second, scarier option: Tie a knot.

What about all those sayings that people get wrong all the time such as "foul swoop" for "fell swoop"......There are loads more, can't think of them.

    Mondegreens? What about 'em?

Fast_Mover: I do, sadly. Seriously, was written into the book by a kid or was it printed? Explain.

I said it today at work after Id had a rather stressful couple of hours. I felt all dizzy and light headed and had a slight head-ache on top so my friend was asking me what was wrong as I looked pale etc., and I said "I don't know, but my head is lifting"

I think I used it in the right context.

    So it's used! :)
