Highlighting text in PDF

I've searched for previous threads on this but haven't been able to find anything.

Is there any way to highlight text when document rights haven't been enabled? I'm looking to use it for things like lecture notes, articles etc to save me from printing them out, seeing as I don't have a printer.

Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. :)

Have you clicked on the 'Select Text' button and then tried to highlight the text?

When you look at the security settings under the document properties, is 'Content Copying or Extraction' set to Allowed?

    Thanks for the reply. :)

Content copying and page extraction are both set to allowed. If I go into "tools" and "customize toolbar", there's the option of a "comment and markup toolbar" and a "highlight text tool". I can use the select tool but there's no option to highlight after that. I'm just trying to highlight different bits of text and save the changes.

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Reader, don't have Professional. Is that the reason it doesn't work or should it be ok with Reader?

hi there, i regularly highlight text in pdfs, but i use foxit reader. it's freeware, and extremely small filesize, and it seems to open pdfs faster than adobe on my systems.

    try it here - http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
