Alright folks...quick question for yiz. Looking to get a blues harp to play along with a 12 bar blues progression but unfortunately our band plays a semitone down so the progression would be in G Sharp. What key do i need the harmonica in?

C sharp. For blues harp you play with a harp that's a 4th above the key of the song so for the key of A you play D, G you play C etc..

Yes, spot on. You could use a G# - in fact there a few that could be used, if you know what you're doing. But for blues cross-harping is the norm, which is as explained by fish-head. So C#.
