Meeting an Installer

Has anyone had Sky perform an installation for them recently?

The reason I ask is that I have just ordered Sky HD and the install is scheduled for next Monday. A Saturday would have been ideal, but I wasn't given that option.

I don't want to give up a days work to wait in, so I was hoping to find out roughly what time the engineer was calling at, so I could meet up with him. Do they call in advance or, better still, is there a number in Ireland I can ring to find out what time they are due?
I live in Kildare and work in Tallaght, so once I had about an hours notice I could get there in time.

(The hard drive on my Sky+ box failed last night and I decided to upgrade rather than get it fixed. I could probably replace the drive myself but I was sort of looking for a reason to upgrade anyway and this seemed like the sort of excuse that would pass my wife's scrutiny!)

The installer should ring you the night before to give you an approximate time

I've been waiting three weeks now. :( The lesson i have learned is that its better to go to sky direct. These digital changeover ads are driving me crazy and it seems like every ad on a webpage is a Sky one.

    Hi

I phoned up Sky on a Wednesday to get Sky+ installed and was given the option to install on the following Saturday which I took (early november). On the saturday the crowd doing the installation phoned to give me an approximate time and 20 mins later I was phone by the installation dude to tell me he was 30 mins away. I was surprised at the quickness of the appointment which the installation dude told me that in Co Limerick area the place is saturated with people working for Sky doing installation work

    cheers

    Thanks for that!

I rang up Sky and asked if my install could be moved to a Saturday. They did so without any fuss.

None of the original dates they offered was a Saturday, so I mistakenly assumed that it was a Monday to Friday service.
