analogue vs digital recorders

    hi,
    Called to currys today to try to pick out a hard drive recorder (with dvd recorder) ... now i am more confused ... what i want to be able to do is .... connect an rte UHF ariel (i can pick up all 4 terrestrial channels on UHF) and a sat box (no sky sub) and be able to record onto the hard drive ... the currys guy told me the analogue recorder will not record from the sat box and the digital recorder will not record from my aerial ..... can anyone shed some light on this ....

    The sales people in Currys/Dixons are untrained imbeciles. Never trust anything they say.

    All HDD/DVD recorders will record from satellite boxes via scart lead. The only things that will not are Digital Terestrial PVRs and as there is no proper DTT yet in Ireland there is no reason these should be sold here at all.

    Practically all HDD/DVD will record from analogue terestrial TV, all sold in Ireland should but the odd Digital Terestrial only UK model may get sold here although I haven't ever seen one in an Irish shop.
