Check Windows Task Manager and see if there are any instances of firefox.exe already running and kill them if they are already running.

nerin, it happens to me the odd time. like every 1 n 10 times i turn on my laptop. but sadly ending process firefox.exe doesnt help :( still have to re-boot.

was hoping you had the same problem! but you got it fixed...

Nice one. ;) I think it has been a problem with Firefox for some time that they have promised to fix but have yet to deliver. Firefox stays in memory even though you've closed it down for a while.

I find most problems with firefox are usually due to dodgy extensions screwing it up.
