Just wondering if it is possible to hire motorbike in Ireland. I would doubt it.

I think there an issue with insurance, was chatting to someone about it a while back, so nobody does it as far as i know.

I think that I heard something about that before.
My reason for asking was that my 5 month old bike was written off last Thursday. Person in car admitted full responsibility. I'm a bit concerned that insurance company will not offer me fair price for it. If I was to trade up one year, it would cost approx €3000. I had no intention of trading for 4 or five years so I think I should not have to suffer a years depreciation in 5 months. New bike will not be available til Feb so if they start messing me about, I'm going to insist on hiring bike or car until I get new bike. Hopefully it will not come to this and everybody will see sense.

YES! In my latest copy of the MAG magazine they mentioned a new crowd in Naas doing rentals. F650s I think.

    Here's a link

Fair play to you if you can, but, if you can get an ins co to stump up Eur700 -PER WEEK, I'll eat my helmet !

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I'd imagine that you're helmet will be safe enough. There's not a hope that they will pay but last Thursday I had an immaculate 5 month old bike, now, through no fault of my own, I've a heap of scrap. How much are they going to give me? Replacement bike not available til Feb.

You would probably be better off buying a hack to get you through until the insurance coughs up. (No harm in having a second bike anyway). With the amount you spend on bike rental for several months you would get something to get around on. Its a buyers marker now so there should be heaps out there. I would imagine that bike hire company would be catering for short term holidays etc, If you needed one long term you could probably strike a deal.
