    Hey

I'm not sure where to post a general post like this.

I've been pretty interested about doing Nursing in college. I've heard bad and good things about it so I'm still thinking about it!

But I'm also trying to decide about which college??

Anyone know what nursing is like in your college, and whats the college like itself?

I did the IUP course in UL, college seemed great

    Thanks

Going by what I heard at the last class reps meeting (last Tuesday) student nurses don't (or used not to) get treated well by UL...class reps doing their job = world of hurt for them.
But they do have a nice, shiny new building to play in...and a ridiculously expensive bridge to connect them with the rest of UL.

    By other students? Of course.

    By their own department? Usually.

By the HSE? Erm, no, especially not student nurses. I'll put up the last three An Focal "why nurses are being treated like crap" stories when I find them

Not from Rory. He emailed his entire class (including me) a good while back to let them know baby-eating was a weekend pastime. Don't fall for his tales of denial.

To be truthful that email was either me, Kai or Otacon!

Don't you dare take credit, don't you dare...

Knew a few nurses who did the course and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Although prepare to be labelled as easy!

    looks tasty lol.......

I've no idea why I'm discussing the merits of baby eating on a thread about student nurses.

    Cheers

other students do not treat student nurses or student midwives like crap and the staff certainly dont.nurses are essential to the health system so why disrespect that!

    That's a paddlin'!

Anyhoo, I have a number of friends who have done nursing and they are loving it now. Found jobs relatively easily but more importantly in the areas they wanted.

It takes work but so do all courses.

Just to set the record straight, I didn't say I had no respect for nurses!

Just alot of nurses I talked to said that the doctors didn't treat them that great, and didn't seem to get much respect considering what they are doing!

From your user name I'm going to assume that you're a girl and say oh my dear little sheltered girl. Give a look at this:

A paddling/paddlin' as the dude in the Simpsons pronouced it can be rather fun depending on what you're into :)

    Cheers
    Rory

I'm a little drunk so I apologize for any offense I may cause by this post.

Jasper: Talking out of turn...that's a paddling. Looking out the window...that's a paddling. Staring at my sandals...that's a paddling. Paddling the school canoe...ooh, you better believe that's a paddling.

He means easy as in a slut (although a harsh way to say it), sweetcheeks.

Nurses have a reputation for being easy, in and out of college. It's a blanket statement which only holds true 3/4 of the time though. :p

    Hi,

I'm just your friendly neighbourhood janitor. I'd like to ask everyone from here onwards to refrain from commenting on the perceived perception of nurses. It's not relevent regardless if you know x, y or z who did x, y, or z.

So in conclusion, I'd like this thread to contain info for the OP before otacon dragged the thread down.

    Thanks.

    Hey, hey wait a minute!

I was answering the OPs question. I [and you for that matter] know some nurses who did the course she was on about. I was relating their experience, as they had told me.

Now stop sullying my good name!

    :(

Nah, I was only messing. I'm a comp syser myself, sure them nurses won't even go near us. :( :P

But seriously, I was joking - no offense attended.

Nursing being promiscuous is just a popular stereotype throughout society.

As for nursing, how do you feel about nursing practice without pay? I think this is the one big downfall of the course, and really needs to be addressed (everyone should receive at least some type of allowance).

well i find nurses and teachers fairly easy tbh havnt been with a nurse from ul but i have in dublin and teachers everywhere just seem to be that bit easier

im sure it has to do with being in a mostly female enviroment for most of the day

i hasten to add i dont think its a bad thing either

note to self, find out when/were nurses class party is
