I run a retail business and so far this Christmas season, takings are down on last year. Plenty of people are out shopping, but there ain't a whole lot of buying going on. So just wondered is everyone just holiding out until the last minute to start spending, or are is the ghost of the celtic tiger spooking the bejaypers out of everyone. Vote in the poll if you are so inclined.

    Thanks.

More and more people are becoming tech savy and are starting to trust internet retailers more? It could be that.

I'd say that more broadband = more online purchases.

    What poll?
AlmightyCushion has it on the head here, in the age where almost every home has at least one PC and at least one credit card. Bricks and Mortar shops are slowly becoming a dying breed due to the ridiculous markup they're sticking on before selling.

Personally i've spent around the same this year as i did last year.
    VR!

what poll? sorry I just got in too early I'm sure you're doing one up now :D

I'd wait til the end of the year and see what the statistics are then. But perhaps people are buying more presents online from abroad? Personally I've bought 3 peoples presents online from America that I would normally buy in Dublin!

Plus my family and friends have gotten more sensible, we do a kris kindle between both groups luckily!!

I'm spending a helluva lot less this year. I get more grinch-like with every year that goes by.

Never thought to put online shopping as an option - this might be having an effect alright.

For the last 5 years or so I've bought 90% off my things online but know a fair amount of people who leave it until last minute. *laughs manically* Ahem...:o
