Why does she need to be cured of this phobia? Is she going to be around mice alot? There is a kind of therapy where she gradually gets used to looking at pictures of mice, then maybe at real mice and then eventually you pick them up. But I dont see why she would need a cure?

If she wants it "Cured" then she needs to confront the fear herself, you can't do it for her. I dont see why its such a big deal though

First off im not trying to cure anything for her, she asked me to help her with this so i said no problem, where in my original post did you get the idea that i was trying to do this for her "shes been like this for as long as she can remember and wants to do something about it". Why do you think that telling me that "you dont see the point in her cureing her life long fear", would be of any help to me or my GF.
"Why does she need to be cured of this phobia" use you head!!
I post here for a bit of help and advise and get stupid replys like you dont see the point in it!!! You've obviously never seen what a proper phobia can do to someone!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yes, I'm afraid I do,

I suffered for a long time from Acrophobia (Fear of Heights) to the point where i'd vomit or get dizzy even looking down from anything. No matter how safe it was I could always see myself falling and smashing my head, neck, face open. Took me many years to get over it and you do it in small steps. Now i can climb up on a roof, with a little fear but thats normal.

I'm sorry if my answer displeases you, but if shes asking you then shes not going about it the right way, she needs to overcome her fear herself, nobody else can do it for her. Hypnotherapy is more like a band aid than a cure and doesnt work on alot of people.

No need to bite repliers heads off, they were both actually trying to be helpful. First poster suggested a therapy where they try to get you to cope with looking at pictures of your fear and gradually building up from there. I have also heard of this and it seems like a good start off point. Perhaps she could try looking at a pic while she's on her own as IMO someone being in the room with her will only make it worse.

Failing that maybe bring her along to a local hypnotherapist, I'm sure you'll find some in the golden pages and you could ring them up and find out prices and maybe give her a list for her to choose one herself.

i have the same problem, I feel nervous just by thinking about it.
but now im living in a house, and sometimes we get mice in, after a while you just get used to it. it's very hard to see them in the first place cos they hide from people. it's hard to see them in the streets aswell, i think in 24 years i just saw them in a street around 3 times.
but i know, if it's a phobia as you say, she'll be afraid even knowing all that.

so she can try and see a professional in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. they have all kind of techniques for dealing with phobias.
