My baby daughter got hold of a Mini DV tape with a year's worth of video.
Does anyone know of a place where i can get it repaired in Ireland.
    It's a Sony MiniDV.
    Thanks

What damage has been done? If the tape has been badly screwed up I wouldn't keep your hopes up, as due to the small nature of MiniDV tapes there's a lot of video in such a small area.

I would definately not recommend trying to play it if the tape is crumpled, as since the video heads are also very small (much smaller than VHS tape heads - and even they are microscopic!) it could cause serious damage to them or even rip them out, and you're talking hundreds for new heads.

I've heard of people ironing out VHS tapes before (yes, with an iron!), but I haven't heard this being done with MiniDV and would guess the results wouldn't be as good. And they don't recommend using the tape more than once after ironing, so you'd want to have some method of transferring it (to another tape, PC, etc.).
