i am wondering is there a good centre for lessons. i am doing some for the last few weeks and have got on fine, only thing is it is too far away from where i live and the people doing it are very young.

ideally i'd like a place with 25 year olds upwards, and good looking (single) women :D

Is the Limerick Equestrian Centre in Coonagh opened again?I used to work there and it had closed shortly after I left.Only other riding centres near it I believe is the one out in sixmilebridge and then there's the one in Clonlara.Clonlara Equestrian centre is nice and is used more by adults than children, least it was when I also worked there.

not sure about Coonagh, but Clonlara is where I am at. Too far to drive though for me. Crecora is near as is Clarina, but ideally someone with experience of going there would be good as opposed to the owners simply saying "yeah there are loads of adults here" to get me in.

Only been to crecora and clarina twice in my life and that was to work with problem horses. If your looking to meet women at a yard, why not just ring them and schedule a lesson in an adult class and see how it is or who is there?

Hi Selenite. I went to Clonshire on Tuesday. The lady said that lessons for my requirements, ie...novice(:o), and age group of over 20's (some are late 20's and a few from 40's plus) are on Saturday morning at 9am or 3pm on the same day. The cost is 27 quid.

I think I'll do the 9am one, but won't be starting until 23rd February. Much too cold outside at the moment anyway :D

The email is info@clonshire.com but if you do email her she is on spam alert so label your email well. She didn't get my one a few weeks ago.

go through adare, after about a mile there is a sign to turn right for the centre, then up there a little over a mile. i know the county very well but i wanted to see how long it took me to get from there to home, 20 mins. clonlara centre took me around 25/30 but it seems longer. are you a beginner or are you planning to go back after a break from it?

I did it for a couple of months last year but i'm stil a beginner, how are you getting on in clonlara, are you jumping?, trotting?, cantering? having fun?

i did about 6 or 7 lessons there and they ended at the start of december for the holidays, brilliant instructor but i am still inbetween beginner and novice. im brave enough to chance the novice.

what i achieved was, jumping over the X jumps which are basic enough, the only thing was the horse was lazy enough and my kicking him wasnt getting him moving.

i dont have any desire to go hunting or anything but socially it is good for meeting people, even if they were younger than me, but as i say people more my age would be a lot better

sounds good, i got a gud buz from it when i did it, different, challenging

yeah the buzz is very good.

i dont have any background in it at all, none of my family do it, despite being in the county. how about you? did you just have an interest in it or are your family in to it?

wel i think horses are beautiful animals, i have a gud friend in austria who has her own horse for years, my dad has a pony - wel she's a pet, so like yourself no background in it, i guess it kind of scares and intrigues me - a challenge - horses seem to hav a mind of their own, a real break from daytime indoor work

where did you do the lessons last year out of interest? i enquired to clarina before Christmas but didn't feel she had what i was looking for, i got the impression i'd have been doing lessons with around 3 people. clonshire is quite impressive, huge grounds, long drive to the back where the centre is, which itself has plenty of space

    clonlara, clonshire sounds nice

you should take a drive out there.

was it davnette you had lessons with in clonlara? she is good and dead sound, pity she is so far away though

I remember when I started back, I pulled a muscle in my back and was in agony for a week. You'll pick it back up very quickly though.

And yes, there're a lot more women who ride horses than men. It would be good if it were more even :D

i was assisted by a blonde girl whom i was very attracted to but she wasn't small, probably around 5'7 i reckon. i fancy one of the girls who was on the lesson though aswell, so i don't know what to do:). she kinda told me what to do when i sat up on the horse first time. i have no idea what the horses name was to be honest.

    sue gave the lesson
