Wasn't hugely exciting episode but still very good. Dealt with a lot of personal stuff

Quite shocked by the revelation about harry. I wonder if this will persuade dex to stop his night time job

I thought it was a good episode, not great mind but still a good watch. Can't wait to see the next episode. I'm glad to see he isn't killing Doakes off. That would be way too easy.

Good episode, not as exciting and fast paced as the last 2 but still very good. The revelation that Harry killed himself because of what he had created in Dexter should have some interesting implications.

Also a good scene where Doakes is pleading with Dex not to kill the drug dealer, shows the gap between them.

It will be interesting to see where it goes.

Who thinks LaGuerta or Deb has a better ass than Lila!?
That poll oughta be Rita Lila Deb LaGuerta Lundi... Y'all are crazy!

Ok episode, maintained the tension ofr last week, didn't add to it, but I'm sure the next 2 (TWO!!!!!) episodes will!

well we aren't really spoilt for choice are we???

I personally thought this was a great episode. Throughout all of season 1 and this season we have sat idly by egging Dex on to kill another murderer, it was only in this episode, when you get to see what Dexter is doing through the eyes of Doakes, someone who is far from innocent... then you get to see it through the eyes of Harry... it suddenly puts a chill in your blood and you realise what Dexter actually is. This whole season they have been trying to change our opinion of Dex. He cheats on Rita, he's getting arrogant and sloppy now and now we finally get to see how we would view Dexter if we where standing there as he murdered.

Either way now I see Dex going to jail, either he gives himself up out of remorse or he will get caught. The writers (and I guess in line with the books, I haven't read them) aren't trying to make us take his side anymore.

Agree with the above posts - good, just not amazing. We were spoilt last couple of weeks and it's a pace that couldn't be maintained without running headlong into the finale prematurely.

What I did like was the revelation about Harry and how we got a different take from Doakes on Dexter's actions. Previously, we only ever had his inner monologue and the killing's seemed that more justified whereas now he hear Doakes' horror at the bloodshed and gruesome violence. I don't know about everyone else, but seeing Doakes' disgust made Dexter seem more evil tonight and that sort of injection is a good thing.

Ok not as kick ass as the last two episodes, back to normal pacing, looks like that droopy Eyed Bitch Lyla is going to frame Angel and claim she was raped by him, although how she plans to get at Dex because of this I'm Not sure.
Also is there potential for Doakes to commit suicide as he looked really spaced out at the end when he told Dex to stay away?
The flashbacks were gas seeing Deb's in those goofy glasses and mad hair :)
Also the Pimp that Dex killed was probably his second kill, after the nurse who was trying to over medicate Harry in the hospital, I don't understand why Harry was so upset, i mean he obviously knew what Dex was and he trained him with Harry's code. Also it looks like that Harry will be Dex's biological dad, and the guy who he got the blood transfusion from was probably his mothers sister.
    So many questions :)

For some reason I can't ever seeing that happening. :D

Probably the best episode this season for actual development of dexter's character. It way not have been the edge of the seat stuff the last few have been, but damn if it wasn't gripping stuff.

Now that would be a curve ball for the Finale :)

I thought it was absolutely brillant again this week!

For one reason.. when Doakes was in the cage pleading with Dexter to not kill the drug dealer, it was the first time they switched roles in my books.

I genuinely felt very sorry for Doakes. He's the guy you love-to-hate but the idea was just so horrifying to him and his pleading was Dexter was quite painful to watch. And with that, Dexter's sheer ignorance of Doake's pleading left me, for the first time, somewhat disliking Dexter. I still care about Dexter as a character but I think it was the idea of him killing for the sake of framing someone else, and allowing them to actually witness it. That scene alone with probably stick with me this season. It was just a real role reversal for me!

The Rita / Debra / Lundy / Angel / Lila (etc) stuff was all good but overshadowed by the scenes between Dexter and Doakes, which were just fantastic!

EDIT: Should have read the replies in detail first but:
    ixoy wrote: »

ixoy has practically echoed what i've said! Kudos mate.

I think it's that we see Dexter alone committing these acts and he's witty (though likeable) but it was with the contrast of Doake's disgust that Dexter's dark side, his evil side, really shows. I think it was the first time that Dexter was actually shown as cold-hearted and evil with zero charm. I loved that we finally saw this!

EDIT 2: Regarding the poll options..
    (2) Lila's Ass
Whoa whoa whoa.. should have been higher than 2!

I think ixoy hit it on the head, it was the first time we witnessed dexter murder without his soothing monologue and wit to mask it. The writers have really done an excellent job, because when you are inside Dexters head you really don't mind the killing, just like Dexter doesn't mind it, but when you are outside of it and see it from Doakes perspective it suddenly becomes chilling like a normal person would view it.

I would have made LaGuerta second only to Rita's Ass :) But who the hell gave this episode a 7 and why o why????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,083 ✭✭✭✭Stark

There's no 7 option on the poll.

I felt certain Lila was going to show up at the beach and **** things up for Rita and Dexter. I really liked how creepy Dexter was in this episode. It was seriously chilling during the scene where it looked like he was going to make Doakes chops. Even though he didn't go through with it, you still got that other view of Dexter, which we saw again later on when he made Doakes listen to the sound of him cutting that other guy up. Good stuff. The only thing I thought brought the episode down was a little too much Lundi and Debra time.

Really really good. I don't want this to end. There are only 2 episodes left :(

Superb episode, masterfully written and acted. Top marks.

Agree 100%. We've been rooting for Dexter all along and the writers have cleverly brought us somewhere we now realise we shouldn't be. It was an eye-opener to see how appalled and horrified Harry and Doakes were at the reality of what Dexter is.

I can see something like this happening as well, though not by the end of this season. Maybe Dex will escape at the very end of the series and go into hiding. I wonder though if the writers will really end the show like that, with Rita and Deb's lives ruined by the truth coming out.
All right, which one of ye has the hots for LaGuerta? :D
TBH, I always kind of liked her in Oz. She is sorta cute and she has a great rack. Rita looked hot in the bikini at the beach; if only her character wasn't so bland and wishy-washy. If Lila's personality could be transplanted into Rita's body, we'd have one full-blown hottie on the show. Deb does nothing for me because the actress freaked me out in "The Exorcism of Emily Rose". Nothing kills a woman's attractiveness like demonic possession.

Does anyone else get depressed watching the scorching Miami weather while we're stuck in an Irish winter?

Those flashbacks annoy me. I know they are necessary but I find it hard to be convinced by some extra hair and a few pimples. Deb was the same except with hair in front of her face and glasses.

I think the fact Harry caught Dexter in the act was the catalyst for his reaction as he was directly facing it and seeing what he had given Dex justification to do. This is the tv highlight of my week :D

Good episode again, it is the only show that i look forward to watching every week now. How they are going to work the Dexter/Doakes thing i dunno, but should be very interesting. I am glad that Doakes, for the moment, doesn't look like he will end up on the butchers block, but will he still take the fall?

Also what interested me was when Dex was telling Doakes to stop pretending that he wasn't a killer, he was special ops, he would've done some stuff like this. Doakes upon seeing the blood trickle onto the ground, looked very, horrified at this.

But i don't think it was the fact that he was in the same room with Dexter cutting up a some guy, but that it brought back memories of when he was Haiti, and of all the slaughter and wanton butchering of the people there. I just wonder now, was Doakes involved in some of this, did he himself maybe go on his own crusade, and did he inflict his own justice on the killers in Haiti..

I was a tad disappointed with this episode - maybe I was expecting too much from it.
I thought they had set it up quite well at the end of the last episode with Dex and his nemesis in the same room and this time Doakes having more than just suspicion about Dexter.

It seemed like an opportunity missed.

I thought that speaking about your "cousins" was a bannable offense?

Brilliant episode! Really disturbing when Doakes had to sit through all of it, his expression looked so distraught.

I have to say my option of Doakes changed in this episode. He is human after all! Up until then he'd been the macho robot guy.
