It's also illegal, and so you won't be getting any answers I'd say.

its completley illegal, even with your own copy of leopard which is wrong imo but theres nothing that can be done about it,

the apple software license thingy restricts you from installing it on any computer that isnt a proper mac.

wow! MS are more liberal in that sense I guess, what a total shocker apple... for shame...

Any more details on this? Like if it's done what are the consequences? prison time?

You are breaking the EULA/license that comes with Mac OS X.
If caught you could face prosecution for that.

Basically it's a massive PITA aswell as being highly illegal and it works badly to say the least. The driver situation will be your biggest problem. It's not about owning a legit copy of Leopard or whatever, Apple says that it is illegal. I wouldn't really say "for shame" tbh, 'cos most PC user's whines RE: Apple is "it's so hard to learn a new OS blah blah blah".

btw it's as illegal as jailbreaking your ipod or installing rockbox which many people here do and openly discuss, so i don't see the problem with this thread.

from what i've read BanzaiBk it works fine if done properly, benchmarks very well as seen in the above link.

plus now theres the ability to boot fully natively with EFI enabled motherboards

It's illegal because it requires a modification of proprietary code thats on the installation media in order for it to boot. It more like chipping a console, except you are "Chipping" part of the OS. Also bear in mind, you never own OS X (or Wndows for that matter), you own a licence to use it.

Getting it to run, and run very well isn't hard at all, its about having the right hardware, apparently.

Anyway, it's illegal and for that there is no discussion. Your best option is to Google for whatever info you need.

Right... now that all the reasons why its illegal have been given... im locking this. I wont delete because its good to have it here as a ref to why we can't discuss this.

I realise the OP did not know it was illegal but the charter points out that discussion of topics such as this can and will result in temp bannings.

i'm gonna talk iPhone because i haven't read the touch's EULA either from the US or here.

iPhone jailbreaking isn't illegal because under the DMCA in the US and an exception to it, it is legal to unlock a cell-phone "for the sole purpose of lawfully connecting to a wireless telephone communication network."

jailbreaking, as a necessary step in achieving that legal shouldn't be held illegal (if tested in court).
