The Bosch Aero blades are great, the rest I havent seen any difference from OEM (which in many cases are likely to be Bosch).

i bought mine in a well known english car parts place. maybe thats the problem. seriously though I probably just got the one bad set in a bunch of 100's.

I have Halford's wipers; I think they're alright, but I haven't compared them to anything else.

Have blades gone up recently as I was in PR Reilys looking to buy some Valeros(think thats the spelling). Have bought them before and found them good enough. The last time I bought them I am sure they were only €7-8 a side, this time he quoted me €15 for passanger side and €22 for driver side. Asked him to double check as its for a 96 carina so it not the new fancy flat blades.

Found these on a UK site Bosch SP21's (Super plus 21" blade) for £5.49 driver side and slightly less for passanger side.So once converted your probally looking at €14 for a pair + shipping of about €6 if they shipped to Dublin. On a side note when you say your thinking of going back to main dealer blades there would be a good chance they will be made by bosch. As I dont think any of the big car makers manufacture there own kit
To be taken with a grain of salt unless someone here knows other wise but on the same site they have a link to a AutoExpress survery on wipers. A brand called Trupart comes out very well on price and performence, and guess what they sell this brand:p

Bought Bosch wipers a long time ago and they weren't that impressive. For the price of one pair of Bosch I can get 3-4 pairs from Lidl and they'll last a hell of a lot longer (I got about two years out of the last pair I had from Lidl, just replaced them with a new pair from Lidl).

Does your lidl have them in stock all the time or just on specials, how much are they

Have had 3 cars with Bosch blades and they were rubbish on them all. Got Halford recently, also rubbish. There's a lot to be said for OEM or even good ole Champion blades.

(patrickc: don't feel the need to explain your every reason for posting.. this is a motoring forum.. no-one around here is balanced, or knows any more about anything than you do)

Anyone recommend where I can get a quality set of blades for my car in the city centre? (dublin)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,161 ✭✭✭cubix

All depending what part of the city your in IG there use to be a motor factors in the Ilac parnell st side and one down near the bridge end of chapel st. Also one up on a side street behind fitsgibon st cop shop

Was in atlantic this moring and they are stocking the old type valero blades I use to get in PR reilys for €6-7 a side but did not have the 21" but every other size.

Halford's blades are possibly the worst I've ever used for dealing with anything other than a perfectly clean screen - I'm having to wash the screen 5 or 6 times on the way in every morning its wet, whereas the old Fiat OEM blades, whatever brand they were, cleared the screen fine in the same conditions.

They're just specials, unfortunately, I usually buy a pair when they're in whether I need them or not and keep them until I do. They used to be dirt cheap, about 3 Euro a pair, but the last time they had them, they were about 6 Euro a pair. Still cheaper than anywhere else though, and they do as good a job as anything else I've used.

I've been driving for a long time and I've always found Bosch to be amongst the best. Especially good at avoiding judder.

I think that Valeo is the wiper brand not valero. Are Bosch not O.E.M. suppliers of wipers to some car manufacturers?
