US and Japan only. Exact same feature set as PAL 60GB (emulated EE).

So we'll never get it? Feck, I'll have to try and find a 60gb so or settle for a 40gb. Surely some hack will be developed for PS2 compatibility on 40gigs

I really really doubt that TBH. Ps2 is the best thing for playing ps2 games on!:p

Best to go ahead and get the 40GB Conor108, its got the same specs as the 80GB as far as I know. All you need to do then is upgrade the hard drive. The manual shipped with the PS3 shows you how to do it.

There is talk of a 120Gb model for Europe later next year.
The 40 and 80 do not have the same specs.

The 80 is the same as the 60 except for HD size. The 120 will be likewise.

The 40 is the cut down version.

The 40gb version has the graphics chip for playin the ps2 games removed. Replacing the

hard drive it very straight forward same as a pc The PS3 is compatible with just about

any 2.5-inch SATA notebook hard disk. Both 5400-RPM and 7200-RPM drives should work

    fine.

The 40gb is also down 2 USB ports and the media card reader ports.

If and when the 120gb model is relaesed it is ment to retail for around the same price the 60gb was. So maybe €629-€699, thats the words floating around, and they were right in predicting the 40gb model so you never know.

I doubt it would even be that. i think sony realised that 630euro was just too much for a gaming console, thus the ps3's poor initial sales.I'd imagine same spec as 60gb for about 500-550 at the most. Afterall it does'nt cost that much to make storage space

It doesnt at all, thats why if you really must have the largest capacity HD, just get a 40gb model, buy a 250gb HD from komplett and put it in yourself. All for cheaper than the 60gb model. Or get a 1TB external USB HD.

But look at MS charging €99 for a 20gb HD and then €199 for a 120gb HD, its sickening.
