I have had mine for two months or so now and i must say i am quite disappointed with it. Its not very functional, the battery life is ****, and this new widgets function was hardly worth the wait now was it? Im considering selling it on and trying something else, tbh. Anyone agree?

I don't think there is anything more functional than the 605 at the moment. Maybe the Cowon Q5.

But the interface is a pain in the hole to use, and when you skip songs it takes about three pushes of the button to move on. Also, trying to play the most basic games on it badly exposes its sub-standard processor. Oh and the Wi-Fi range is ****e as well. Its like they stuck on a load of features just for the hell of it. For all the hype it has generated its certainly a limited device.

Its an xvid player and anybody hoping to get more out of it is going to be disappointed.

I havent updated the fw in months and have no plans to. Plays xvids and streams avi's from my computer..............makes me happy.

But ye widgets, viewing pdf, playing music etc etc are gonna disappoint ppl if their looking forward to those. I dont expect anything to improve unless its hacked.

There are loads of PMPs more functional than the 605, the problem is that they are not mainstream over here. Korea are really lucky having the likes of Cowon and iStation... the A3 and U43 are simply amazing, but like I said they aren't mainstream so you have to actually do research to find them, which pays off because if don't research then you might end up buying something not really suited to your needs. Case in point, this thread.

Bought one of these guys about 1 week ago along with a mini dock. I'm leaving next week to travel around the world so i bought this to occupy myself on the long flights.

I like everything about it except the po*y battery life. It really is terrible!! So i went and bought a 4 AA battery enclosure off ebay that will power the mini dock (about 15euro). Going to use my rechargable batteries to power the device whenever i can't get easy access to a computer or power mains. The 4 AA batteries works fine and will charge an empty battery, so gives about an addition 4 hours of film playing time.

I'm not that bothered about the widgets

I agree with some of the comments regarding the shoddy interface especially when playing mp3 but i bought this with the intention of using it for playing movies when i go away so it won't bother me that much.

I'm more annoyed with the battery life. My girlfriend has an archos gmini 500 and i had to send it back since the battery was only lasting for about 30 minutes so these kind of problems aren't uncommon with Archos mediaplayers.

Spending 400 euro on a media player and then using a homemade battery enclosure to power it, is unacceptable.

Mactard I'm interested in this. hadnt heard of these before, any suggestions as to how I could get my hands on one? Was just about to replace my broken Ipod with another. Only place I could see one was on the US ebay, would it be ok to use here (assuming someone was happy enough to ship)?

Edit: Just found them on the peats website, nice one

Have a look on amp3.co.uk as well, they stock some of the harder to
find mp3/mp4 players. I've used them several times without any bother
and they'll also price match other sites like Amazon UK (Handy when
    Amazon won't ship to Ireland ;) ).

Have they finally allowed browsing by ID3 tag on the A3? It's beyond the beyond stupid at this stage if they havent.

    Nope.

They can add it if they want, but they don't want to.... I prefer browsing by folders myself... browsing by ID3 offers little advantage (tp me) unless you have to browse by genre or something....besides, the A3 is more video orientated to tell you the truth even though it's audio features kick ass

The ergonomics of a lot of these media players are very poor too. I don't understand why they can't have simple obvious buttons. Every new player has a new way of doing it, that manages to be worst than just using a simple button, logically laid out.

Battery life is OK, but via USB takes a huge length of time to charge. For Travel I have a micro USB hub and the charger for my GPS to power it. I may get the Battery dock mainly to extend films time on longer flights and have ability to copy photos via USB from phone/camera.

You arn't allowed a cabled external battery pack on most flights.

I'd like realplayer and and WMA streaming support for "Internet Radio". A Realplayer plug in is supposedly on the way, I imagine €20

I think the plugings and accessories are overpriced. I blame Apple for setting high prices. :)

What about getting them from the US site for $20 ?
