Compensation for his manhood?

So there I was, The west coast of Ireland taking a battering , I thought "Brilliant!,get some action weather shots!" so after doning my waterproof's and boots, and alerting the other half to our (my) new plans for our saturday afternoon....we departed.
All was going well, thought I had some lovely shots in the bag and were heading home all upbeat even through the saturation and downpours.
That was until we stopped a a local beach on the way back just to check out the waves...
We pulled in beside a nice shiney 07 Volkwagon Passat with a rugged looking chap sitting in it.
I thouugh nothing of it and proceeded to step out and take out the 'ol trusty D40x and snap away with my 18-135 lens.
However my face and that of the lady with her point & shoot Casio Exilim beside me soon sank as Mr. Passat proceeded to goto the trunk of his car and produce what I can only desribe as a canon.
Now I don't mean Canon the brand I mean more like an anti-aircraft cannon....even though it was a Nikon.
Inadequate is probably the best adjective to describe how I felt. The camera looked like a Nikon D70 (or possible D50) with a monster (an I mean MONSTER) lens attached which put myself and this innocent lady beside me to shame.
Just thought I'd share my particular experience with you all, now I know it's no fault of Mr. Passat, but I couldn't help but want to gouge his eye's out for having better equipment... and a nicer car than me...Im sure that lady felt the same too...
    Maybe it was the weather.

Oh dear, happens all the time.. I'm nearly embarassed bringing my Tamron 70-300 to races now as theres always amateurs walking around with 300mm f2.8's, still at least I'm not doing my back in lugging my kit around :)
Then again I've a few months to save up before the racing season kicks off again....

:D Funny story, his shots may not have been as good as yours, It's not the size of the equipment it's how you use it;)

If I had to choose I'd say it was the lense on the top Right, though it looked like the one on the top left in real life....:p

    Holy Bejesus !

Surely if you attached the upper most left one and lifted the camera without supporting the lense it would eat the cameras face clean off ?

Extreme Fisheye i think. looks like it could capture 180 deg.

Captures 220-240 degrees, don't know how you would hide yourself in a shot

Just don't care about equipment. It is not the important thing.
Having 50mm lens on, I feel better because I know that I know :-)

Yea wish I could say the same thing but when walking into shoot a gig/event where there's big money one the line all I can think about is do I have the right gear and will it preform.

years ago when I used to cover protests/marches I was so happy with My
dynax4/kit lens and a few roles of Fujichrome Sensia.
