I'd say it's a matter of taste - not having had the opportunity to compare both myself. The extra resolution of 576i might be nice, but at the cost of the 60Hz refresh rate which is nice on a CRT. I'd probably go for 60Hz on a CRT and 50Hz on an LCD cos I think this'll make more of a difference to the screen than the extra resolution. Open to correction on this though!

i'm using the component cable and it looks much better, edges are sharper and the colours are more vivid.

i got a component cable yesterday. gonna try it out later! only got the telly yesterday too! LG 42"! ooh ye!

btw, a friend of mine has a big massive Samsung. I cant remember which order the display settings are in, but i chose the middle one for her. however, it was quite flickery on the menu so i changed it to the top option. this solved the flicker. obviously i couldnt choose the bottom 480p one coz she didnt have the component cable. but thats the results i got from basic testing.

i didnt test it in-game tho. i guess you'll have to just test it out for 10 mins on each!

yes yes i know the component cable is better but i wasnt asking about that
Went for 576i before i got any replies for the same reasons daedalus2097 came up with. Also because 480i didnt seem to scale as good on the lcd.

hmmm, i hav to admit i dont notice too much improvement with the component cable. palying mario galaxy its hardly super smooth like! maybe i should revert back to the old cable just to see how "bad" it was, then stick the component in and see if i notice the improvement.
