    Anybody know where i can find out about what power these people have while on duty.
    I know alot of them go way overboard.

    That statute only deals with the regulation of the security industry.

    The only powers they have above and beyond anyone else is that they act as agent of the land owner. That means they can use reasonable force to remove a trespasser from the property who doesn't leave when asked. They can also prevent a person from entering on to the property.

    Other then that they have the same power any person has to detain someone who commits an arrestable offence in their presence or a person who they reasonably suspect is guilty of an arrestable offence that has been committed until the gardai arrive under section 4 of the Criminal Law Act 1997, this is colloquially called a citizens arrest.
