Took a few shots earlier at Glasgow's "Shindig in the Square" an event put on to try and celebrate St. Andrew's day (Paddy's day gets more recognition here!).
Despite some awful weather it managed a good turn out early on (its still going at the minute) and it gave me a good chance to practice some low light photography and also some "gig" shots.
Let me know what you think...as usual ;)

low light aint posing any problems for you - well done.

not sure about number 1 - technically probably not a lot wrong with it (maybe chopped feet!) but i don't know.... its just eh.... plain i suppose????

But then there is number 2 and while the crop maybe a little too tight or better centered, woooo hooooo - what a capture. honestly.... it's of the quality that you would see on an expensive advertising campaign - you know the type that gives a warm fuzzy feeling. As i say the crop is a little tight but all is forgiven with the subject matter. nice lighting and depth of field.

number 3 is quite nice. mike's are the bane of gig photography (in my very humble opinion) (actually theres probably a lot more of bane(s) of gig photography) but in any case you've managed to conceal it somewhat. nice and clear for low light shooting.

    Well done.

No 2 very much has that human interest. Great image. I'm sure that's one that a paper would use.

Cheers guys, about the cropping on number 2, unfortunately its not cropped atall so theres nothing i can do about it, just seen the moment and got the shot the best i could.
I really like the way the bottom of their rainjackets are almost perfectly joined to make 1 email address! :D (and of course i can claim to have seen that before i took the shot lol)

Have to agree, might be worth sending that off to papers and the likes of the BBC website, good chance of getting it somewhere imho :)

See im unsure how this works.... as i said in my thread looking for advice the other day, this is my first step into the "freelance" side of things, and i have sent these images off to the metro already....is it ok to send the same images to different places?

If I was you, I'd be sending them all over the place. You don't have an exclusive contract with anyone.

Fairynuff, ill fire it out to a few places and see if anything happens.

Hi guys, just picked up an email from the marketing company involved in the event expressing that they "may" be interested in 2 or 3 of the shots from the set.
Ive never dealt with this side of things before can anyone point me to the "going rate" for selling to them?

Ah nice one, cheers. I knew id seen that somewhere.
They hinted that they might be interested in getting me to do a little work for them in the new year (fingers crossed!) so i might undercut those prices a little as a sweetener ;)

should you quote a full price and indicate an "introductory discount" as gesture of goodwill for future working relationship etc in case they also try to get future photos at the introductory sweetener rate rather than a normal rate - if that makes sense

Yep, thats pretty much what i was meaning...once i have further details on what they want (if they actually want them, remember its only at the "may" stage right now) ill work it out from there.
