Eastman believes win will get him title shot..

Howard Eastman believes that a win over John Duddy would propel him towards a third world title fight.

Eastman failed in his two previous attempts to become a world champion at middleweight, losing a majority decision to William Joppy in a bout for the vacant WBA belt in 2001, before being comprehensively outpointed by the then undisputed champion at 160lbs, Bernard Hopkins, in 2005.

’The Battersea Bomber’ has won just two fights since that defeat by Hopkins but feels that a win over the highly-rated Duddy would reestablish him as a major force within the division.

"I'm looking for the route back to a world title fight and a win over Duddy is that route. That's why I'm here, I'm here to do the business,” Eastman is quoted as saying by The Belfast Telegraph ahead of his December 8 bout with Duddy at the King’s Hall.

"I don't watch tapes of my opponents and that's not because I disrespect them, I just let Robert (McCracken) deal with that.

"I know that I beat Joppy but didn't get the decision and I have to look to win every round against Duddy.

“It's going to be a special night, it's my birthday and John Duddy is going to be defeated,” added Eastman, who will turn 37 on Saturday week.
