sky and phone line

I want to get a sky sub. Whilst there is a landline in the house in question, its at the other end of the house - and its just not feasible to have it hooked up to sky box 24/7.

Do sky still insist on this or will they accomodate scenarios like this?

Also, if i already have a dish setup for Astra2/sky, can i just order the box and sub ..ie no installation?

    Hi,

As far as I know you can pay a fee, I think it's 37.50e if you don't have a phone.

Not sure about the dish, you should give them a call.

Also, are you aware of the refer a friend offer at the moment - free sky+ box for both the new and existing subscriber.
I'm a subscriber so if you need a referal let me know although I think the offer finishes today.

I know in England, theres absolutely no chance of having sky plus without phone connection (they're concerned that they second box would be used elsewhere). Is this the same here?

If you are just getting one standard sky box you can pay a once off fee so it doesn't have to be plugged into phone.
If you're getting just one Sky+ box, you only need it plugged into the phoneline during installation when your card is activated in the box. You could run a long cable from your phone point at other end of the house temporarily?
If you're getting multiroom, both boxes must be plugged into the phoneline at all times. I got this RTX Wireless Phone Jack Line Extension Kit (DECT Extender) this week and it works great with my Sky+ box.
