English 'b1tch': Insult that landed an Irishman living in Wales in court for racial harassment

Michael Forsythe has been found guilty of a racial insult

A grandfather has been given a prison sentence for racial harassment after calling a Welsh woman "English".

Mick Forsythe used the term during an argument over a scratched car in his Welsh home town.

He called the vehicle's owner, Lorna Steele, an "English bitch".

She and her husband took great offence at the jibe and decided to take him to court.

The 55-year-old former lorry driver was found guilty of racially aggravated disorderly behaviour, and received a ten-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

*wheeps for the state of the world*

That is ridiculous... you can get away with anything in this world, as long as you're the one suing!

I'm sure if the boot had been on the other foot and she had called him a "Paddy" then there would have been a similar court case and she could have been the criminal.

Yes the UK has gone a bit "PC" over racist remarks, but this is only after so many minority groups have played the "race card" for many years.

At least now (insert minority group here) can now be charged with insulting the natives (English, Welsh & Scottish), where as before it was only the natives that got convicted for insulting the minority person.

that ruling could pave the way for an awful lot of more of those nothing cases. the repercussions could be interesting.

I wonder they're going to start printing "I'm not English" T shirts now?

Yes, so many personal differences get dragged up into something completely different. It started with a scratched car after all!

Welsh people, is there no end to their annoyance.

While I would dislike being called English, I doubt I'd take it as far as court. I'd just insult them with something similar.

Also, the thread title should be changed, this has nothing to do with muslims, and would only cause more grief.

Yes but.. but.. he called her english. As insults go, thats a mighty powerful one. Must remember it for personal use in the future.

I think there's the world of difference between one person's racial slur, and the legal/judicial system of an entire country

this is the most ridiculous, over-PC piece of rubbish I have ever heard

the Husband says in the article:
"He's from Ireland originally and he's lived in Wales for years and some of them don't like English people."

    Stereotyping, counter sue him.

That's what I thought aswell. Let's lock up that freaky looking creep as well for mass generalisations.

Just try calling a Scotsman English and you might end up using your toothbrush where the sun don't shine in future.
