NTL/UPC work on house , but not asked

    Hi,
I was working from home , at the back of the house and saw a ladder swing by the window when I went to get some coffee.
( WORKING WITH IN EAR HEADPHONES AND HEARD NOTHING ! )

I go out , and discover a chap has placed a number of thick grey cables along the underside of my roof edge at the front , and a large alarm sized junction box on my end wall ( end of terrace ) with these cables plugged into , and another cable from here across the gap of 8 feet to my neighbours.

I asked him what the hell he was doing - and he said "cable tv upgrade " .
I told him I did not authorise this , and he was trespassing , and also damaging my house.

I told him to stop, where by he said it was finished , and live and he would get someone to contact me.

can anyone advise my legal position , I feel I am entitled to disconnect and remove this equipment and have them take it back.

and also have any work on my house remedied ?

    twas quite unreal to behold.

    thanks

    LHH.

Take a look here in this thread as I think something very similar happened someone else.

If there was cable there before, then they may be allowed access to upgrade it. A friend of mine has a lot of NTL stuff on their house for years and they have a deal that they get NTL basic for free. Anytime NTL send a bill, every couple of years, they reply with a letter saying take down all your cabling. Still have free NTL. But I was down at their house the other day and NTL have done the same as that. Drilled holes in the wall etc. Pointed it out and my friend didn't really mind.

Check the thread that Ciaran posted up, but a solicitor should be well able to clear this up quickly for you.
