Hope someone can help. Friend of mine is looking into buying boyfriend guitar for Christmas and he has mentioned a 'Martin' guitar in the past. Now between us we know nothing about guitars but he has been playing for a while so probably needs a fairly decent one. My question is where to find one and is it best to buy online? Any music websites recommendations that deliver etc. if needed?

you can buy Martin acoustic guitars in Musician Inc. on Drury Street in Dublin.
thats the only shop i know about that sells them.

otherwise you could check out www.thomann.de they are a german shop but do great deals.

    good luck

also perfect pitch sell them too, on excheuer st. or is it wicklow street? both streets are on the same stretch i think.

i bought mine from musician as it was only 50 euros cheaper on thomann plus musician threw in a gig bag too.

Godwins on Capel Street also have them. They had a sale on certain Martins the other week.

Does any quitar shop not stock them?

Perfect Pitch generally have good stock and are good to deal with.

I got a Martin D41 in the states and I think I saved around €1,000+ compared to what it would cost here, so if you know anyone going to the states......

its a lot on money to spend on something
you are choosing on a whim,

the fact that its a martin means you are
unlikely to get a lemon, but the chances that you
or the shop-guy will pick his ideal martin is slim
(everyone likes different things, especially guitarists!)

perhaps your mate should fore-go the surprise
    and give him the choice

If i knew I was getting a martin as a present
    I'd be heavily involved
    (i.e. exact model number!!)

I would second this. Buying a guitar (as I have recently done) is purely a subjective decision. What I might like as a guitarist might completely different from what your friend's boyfriend might like.., a lot also depends on what style of music this lad might play.., not all guitars are appropriate for all music styles..,

Therefore, I would suprise him pre-xmas, and get him involved now. He will thank you for it..
