I was able to connect my Nokia BT headset (a mobile phone one) to the PS3 last night but the little mic sysbol didn't show up beside my name in the rankings nor could I talk to anyone during the games. Should it automatically work once connected or is there some setting in the PS3 GUI that I need to turn on?
    thanks

    What game were you playing?

I think you have to press L3 or R3 to talk in Warhawk. I could be wrong though as I never did it.

Does it work for you in the PS3 Setup. I think it's Audio Device settings? or something. You can test the headset in there. Does your Nokia BT device have a button on it to activate and deactivate talk? I know the Jarba one I have there's a button you press to mute/unmute.

i think you'll have to set it up first before you start playing the game and have it on already when you start it.

check out the online manual for the button for talking in game, unless someone here can confirm.

Is COD4 you should just be able to talk without pressing a button. I can also turn mine on or off at any point in the game. I'd give it a test through the audio device settings first and see it works ok from there.

Got it working at last, in the BT accessories setup menu there is a search for BT devices option, after you have connected there is a Audio input menu where you can choose your default input decice, you have to chooose the headset in here from the menu and save, from then on it seems to sync with the PS3 automatically once you turn the headset on.
