    hi neil_hosey

For Livigno I have only ever gone Self-Catering or Half Board, so I can't give you much advice on actual Hotels, I really don't know any.

As regards booking, I dont rate one tour operator over another, I just go the lowest cost thats suits the dates I want to travail. I never use the Reps for anything at all apart from quick discussion maybe at the start as to where the decent bars ar but I find even that is biased and it can be more fun finding them on your own.

A couple of lads who post here have been Livigno alot more times then I have so perhaps one of them might be better suited to answering you. They also know some really good bars and restaurants.

Alot of people are going to Livigno early this year (Dec\Jan) so I'm hoping that at the end of it, we will have a decent guide to the livigno that people can add too.

Since its your first time skiing, have a read through some of the posts here over the last few months and hopefully it will prepare you a bit more on what or what not to bring. Snow Holidays are so much fun! once you go your going to be hooked!! :)

Although I don't tend to make much use of the reps in resorts if I can help it at all I would reccomend that you do book via a tour operator for your first trip. It takes a lot of the hassle about sorting everything out to get there and back and once you add in the price of transfers as well may actually be cheaper than if you organised it yourself. Don't belive what they say to you about them having got fantastic deals on lift passes/ hire etc as they are basically just the same price as if you were to sort them in resort yourself, but it can be handy for having had them already get all that stuff organised for you.

+1. You'll end up paying more, but there will be a lot of hassle if you try to go independent on your first go. There are so many things to consider, and if you don't have experience then it'll be hard to know everything that you need.

    Hey Neil,
I've never been to Livigno before but am going the Jan. One of the lads I work with was there 6 times and recomended Hotel Galli 4*. Be careful I believe there is two hotel Galli's. We tried to get this but it was booked out. We booked into Hotel Picollo tibet, which looks fine. We booked everything ourselves.

Don't know if it works out any cheaper but I rather booking direct.

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies. Ye i was considering booking it all myself but as you say I really dont know what I need to organise. I will more than likely be going for 4/5 days and the operators I have been looking at only really do a min of 7 days. This may mean Iwill have to book myself.

Thanks Claw I will check out that hotel. I am also interested in going self catering but since theres only 2 of us it will be quite expensive.

From reading other threads on here, it seems Livigno is a good bit away from the airport.(4 hours or so  )

Could anyone recommend any other resorts that are quite nooby friendly and do not require alot travelling to get there?

I was also looking at some french resorts but it is very difficult to find decent reviews of the resorts.

    Thanks for all the help,
    Neil

The Bellavista has apartments above it but you eat in the resturant which is really good. I've heard good things about the apartments. They're very close to the ski school aswell

I was also looking at some french resorts but it is very difficult to find decent reviews of the resorts.

If you fly into Geneva you have access to a number of resorts within 1 - 2 hours of the airport, you wont find many reviews for the French resorts because they are all very well known, you have the likes Chamonix & Val D'isere.

French resorts are can be quiet expensive I've heard but I don't know for sure yet. I'm going in two weeks so I can come back with exact costs then.

Cheers. Seen as it is our first time going, I dont want to spend a fortune. That will be great help.
