I will be in the City Centre tomorrow for some xmas shopping. I don't really know the city that well so where would be the handiest to park. I'm coming in N25 from Midleton side. Any advice?

Keep driving in along the quays and the multi storey on Carrolls Quay never seems to be full. Its opposite the bus station.

Thats probably the nearest one to the city centre that you have a chance of getting into over christmas without queueing for too long. The others are a nightmare. Even still I would recommend you get there before 9.30am. The back of the train station also has a good carpark but it's a bit of an effort walking back with all your shopping.

You could always use the Blackash Park & Ride. When you have come in on the south link as far as the Kinsale Road roundabout and are then heading in towards the city you will see it on the left hand side of the road. It's very handy and buses are regular etc. It's also only €5 for the day. The drop-off point in town is just across the river from the City Hall and so is very central.

Or, you could drive to the Glounthaune Train Station, it has a small car park, so park your car there and get train the Cobh-Cork train 1 stop to town. If you do have to drive all the way in, then yes, either Carrol's Quay or Patrick's Quay Car Park which is next to the back of the Metropole Hotel, if that makes sense.

get it two stops. or else you'll end up in Little Island. You wouldn't like that. Though there is ice skating now.

Thanks everyone for all your directions, we'll probably head into one of the multi story carparks.

+1 on the black ash, town is a nightmare lately, and car parking charges are a bit much!
