    Hey guys,

I have a Seagate External HDD which inadvertently got plugged in with my laptop adapter by a friend - 19v instead of 12v.

Long story short it wont start up since and I was thinking I'd just whip the drive out and chuck it into a new HDD enclosure. Anyone know if this would be a problem?

It all depends. if the damage is on the circuit of the enclosure or if it actually got to the circuit board on the drive itself.

There's a small PCB on the underside of the drive & if that got whacked then a replacement enclosure won't sort it.

Do you have access to another enclosure? no harm in trying it.
