i have one external HD permanently attached to my PC and i have a media player that i hook up every so often.
when i have the two of them on together, my explorer will normally crash, just leaving me with a my desktop picture and no icons.
The problem will happen when i start browsing folders, mostly before i have time to click on any file and view it. Both HD can be plugged in all day and no problems, its only when open one of the HD folders.
    any ideas. Thanks in advance.

    A bit more info.
    PC is running XP SP2.
The permanent external HD is sata connection, i did have a PCI sata card, but i changed it to a usb external conection to see if that would help, it didn't.

Are there video's in the folder you are trying to open by any chance when it starts to crash ? if so it could be a codec problem if you have tumbnails enabled . try turning tumbnails off and go into the folder, also check your logs .
