    I still have no idea what it's for.

    I typed in www.google.com and it came back ' Failed validation, 30 Errors'

    oh, it's for making sure your code is good when building websites. syntax correct and standards adhered to, that kind of stuff.

    The Earth is a somewhat pear shaped ellipsoid, with a slightly larger southern hemisphere than northern hemisphere. No single mathematical formula works for all of the Earth's surface, so different regions are represented by different formulas. Position coordinates determined for one formula (datum) will usually not match the position values determined by another datum.

    Yes the official position is that the earth is pear shaped :rolleyes: just like a lot of stuff in it.

    But seriously folks, if the earth was round then the formulas and datum would be as easy as PI.
    They aren't hence the earth must not be round.
