No such thing, all sky boxes are sourced via sky's distribution channels to Authorised sky agents

If you are an existing customer of a few years standing then you can get free installation and a HD box for about €299.

Got mine a few weeks ago.

You could get a SkyHD box off of e-bay.

I got mine's off ebay. Very easy to do self install if you got sky+ already pretty much just swap the boxes out and phone sky to activate the box.

How long do you have to be with them to qualify for the €299 price?

No idea Hewlett but I have been with Sky for a long time - nearly since the beginning.

May I ask what they charge on ebay? I agree self install is very easy if you already have sky +

I am with them for a bit over 5 years. I wonder does that qualify me for a discount.

I have Sky+ with the full sports and movies package plus multi-room (I even have setanta) and I would be prepared to pay the monthly HD fee on top of this. So while Sky down 'owe' me anything, I do feel I have been a good (i.e. profitable) customer for them.

I have set myself a limit of €300 for Sky HD (including installation). If it's any more than that, I would probably wait in the hope of a future offer.

I don't really want to ge down the ebay route because I wouldn't like to have to sent the box back to the UK for a warranty repair.

I've sorted out free Sky+ with the "introduce a friend" thing, installation due on Tuesday week.

I've been thinking about HD though. I'm thinking about giving them a call and asking if I can "upgrade" my installation to Sky HD and pay the difference (about €300 I think)
Would I be wasting my time, or are Sky generally accommodating about that sort of thing???
