Final Fantasy XI - Where to start?

    Any FFXI players out there?

    Haven't played any MMO in about a year (Guild Wars and Eve), but I've been looking to get back into one and FFXI looks interesting.

    But looking at all the expansion packs and how long it's been released...is it too late to start? Would I be at a massive disadvantage starting from scratch?

    Also is there much of an Irish community playing it?

    And finally...I can't dedicate too much time to a MMO...is FFXI accessible to a casual player? Or am I better off waiting for something else?

    I donn't think there are many players left in FFXI, but if you don't have much time for an MMO and like PvP, maybe you should play Fury. This game was designed for casual players, you can buy gold from the MMO company and you can buy all the spells/abilities from the MMO company as well.

    I've been playing FFXI for over 3 years now, and its still very busy. I have no plans to leave any time soon.

    Hi, I'm starting to play the game myself. Does anyone know any good server to start on as i dont want to be on a server with loads of the people that have been playing for years.

    Your probably not going to get a server like that. Generally, servers are only started to meet the demand of new players, or for servers with excess population. For a game like FFXI, which is quite old now, they will unlikely open new servers that would draw players away from the current ones.

    Trying to find one with a few Irish players is your best bet, to get some help along the way.
