    Hi,

Have a few xmas balls etc coming up and there black tie, so I thought instead of spending a fortune renting I might as well try and buy a tux.

Does anybody know anywhere in Dublin that are selling cheap tux's?

    Thanks in advance

you might be a bit late but try the bargain basement of Arnotts, they had loads there around Debs time, i got shirt and dickie bow for €18 and I think the suits were €100. If they are not there, I got my suit on ebay for about €120 and it is fine, i just needed to get the trousers taken up. i've worn them twice so far (wedding and a ball) and its great not to have to rent, well worth buying!!

I was in town yesterday to buy a tux. Tried a few places, and prices I can recall were:

BlackTie €275 - wasn't impressed with the quality.
Diffneys €299 - I liked this one, good fitted cut.
Bests €350 - horrible material -had a Lycra sign attached to it.

I ended up buying a Cavaliere (not sure on spelling) in the Suitable Company. They're doing a deal at the moment - buy any suit and get the tux for free. Retail value of the tux is supposedly €395 - though I do think I recall seeing them in there for that price earlier.

I've more than enough suits at the moment - bought 2 Cavalieres in there a few months back during their 2 for the price of 1 deal and often get good comments on both. So what I arranged with them is that I paid the €395 yesterday, got a credit note for €395 to be used against any suit, and am getting a suit in there for my Dad for Christmas. Most suits in there are about €450-€500, so I'm happy with that.

I liked the tux, doesn't feel as lightweight as some tuxes, and has the satin band on the trouser leg which I haven't been mad about before but liked it on. Also a very narrow satin trim at the top of the pockets which looked well.

Got mine in Noel Reid in the old Dundrum Shopping Centre, worked out around €120 all in all I think. Tux itself is fine and has paid for itself.

Marks and Spencers I think they work out at about 70 euro for the actual suit!

I got a Tux in H&M in Germany, very cheap, years ago, might be worth trying them now that you don't have to go that far...:D

Just checked their website and a tux jacket costs €22.90! Think the trousers costs the same.... so you'll have change from a €50 note!

H&M are selling tuxes for an unbelievable price at the moment.

I didn't know that H&M did tuxes. I'd have a look at M&S and also Oxfam Shops, some super suits there too.

Was looking around before and came across this crowd- down in Cork I think- shipping is included in the price of €180 for a complete suit/shirt/dickybow. Didnt need to get one in the end but they did respond to questions quickly.

M&S have a few "levels" of tux. :D

One (jacket + pants) for about €300, one for €200, and also a budget version. The jacket for the budget version is definitely €45 - so I'd imagine €70 sounds about right for the set!

Supposedly you can wash and tumble dry those things too!

Pennys have an ad on the radio at the moment advertising these. The whole suit works out around €30 . Can't get much cheaper than that.

Ah feck €30 is a bargain, anyway got it in M&S, jacket, pants, shirt and a fancy dickiebow for €144, not too bad.

    Thanks for all the suggestions

I'm a poor student and I went for this. The jacket is €30 (unless it's now gone down) and the trousers are like €12 and they had a dress shirt and bow tie combination for €6!

It actually looked pretty damn good for the price, I couldn't notice any difference from those renting from blacktie
