Verified Paypal account

Just looking through my paypal account and there is an option to 'verify' it.

Just wondering what doing this does for me. They charge €1.50 for it but say that I'll get €1.50 credit in my account if I verify. Do they just put a 'voucher' for €1.50 into my account that I can use next time I purchase something using paypal.

    Your PayPal account is Verified

You are a Verified PayPal user. In addition to increased security, buyers and sellers value your Verified status because it indicates you have passed PayPal security checks.

This means that you have completed your enrollment in PayPal's Expanded Use Program and can send an unlimited amount of money with your PayPal account.

You get the money back, to use later.

The 1.50 is refunded to your credit card later I think. Most sellers won't sell anything to users who aren't verified. It works for both buyers and sellers as you will both be protected if something goes wrong with a sale and your funds are unlimited when you are verified as mentioned.

Its worth doing for the sake of €1.50 then is it?

Only went through it myself there recently and the €1.50 gets put into your PayPal account after you make a payment once you are verified. Forgot all about it, just checked there and my balance is €1.50 :D

Definately, it gives you a certain amount of credibility and trustability when buying and selling on ebay.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread.

I am wondering about this too. Info on the PayPal site is a bit vague, or maybe I don't understand it. Ok it my be more secure (how exactly they do not say) but what does linking the card to my bank account actually mean. Isn't existing cc procedures/security/information good enough for them, as it is with everyone else? Would it mean that they would have access to my bank account under any circumstances?

With mine it says that I'm verified. Did the €1.50 process. However it still says that my address is "unconfirmed". How can I get this sorted?. I keep coming across auctions that state they will not ship to an unconfirmed address.

You don't link your card to a bank account, you can link a bank account to your Paypal account for withdrawing money, but your card and bank remain as separate as they always have been.

If you live in Ireland, then you don't. It's not possible to confirm addresses here, and some sellers, often UK or US based, simply won't ship to you if this is the case. Sometimes if you contact the seller up front and explain that you can't confirm your address then sometimes they'll let you bid. If they won't, then there's nothing you can do about it.
