TCD wireless LAN problems

    Hi all,

I'm just wondering is anyone experiencing problems around the vicinity of the Hamilton library and Lloyd institute. My connection keeps dropping and re-connecting every few minutes, with the signal strength varying wildly. Everywhere else on campus seems fine, and it seems a bit ridiculous that the one meagre amount of campus space dedicated to science/computery types has a bad WLAN. I used to study in the 1937 postgrad room but since about a month ago I couldn't find any network connectivity at all. Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Aye theres been problems with the hamilton and the loyd for the past few weeks. Somethings definatly up with the network around there. Hell you cant even access webct when your connected to the wireless in that area but it works perfectly on the wireless everywhere else in college.

Someone in my class can't get a signal in the 1937 but can get it elsewhere, that's on XP and apparently her wireless card is fine. I'm on a Mac and it generally runs OK in the 1937 but it can be glitchy.

I've had problems in room 1.19 in the Lloyd, but no where else. I'm on a mac, running 10.4 It's kind of annoying because I do most of my work in that room in the Lloyd, ISS offered to set up an appointment with me there but I haven't had the time to actually do it.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one having these problems. I can't believe the technical support is so bad...in the computer science department of all places!! Printers are never working so I had to buy my own, network is so sloooooow, difficulty finding a computer which works. Unbelievable. When I politely asked for help with printing a document, the support guy was so obnoxious and rude. Not the first time this has happened so I won't be asking for "help" again.

My work is suffering because of this dreadful service. To be fair though, the network and computers in the rest of college seems pretty good and reliable.

Nope, been having problems too. I was told the XP wlan config client caused issues, and they will try and sort another client out for me.
