Contender Asia Pool - Bet Bet Bet!!!

Ok...I thought this deserved a thread of its own. Here's my idea:

Everyone who's interested signs up here.

We need a square of 2 (so, 2, 4, 8 or 16). Any less than a given number and it'll be first come, first served (so if 13 sign up, it'll be the first 8, etc.).

You chip in a tenner which you pay to me in advance (I will NOT make any profit from this, unless I win of course).

After signups are closed, you get assigned your fighter / fighters randomly. (just thought....to ensure fairness / randomness, we could do a champions league style draw with witnesses etc. at Paddys amateur Muay Thai event in two weeks.)

Winner takes all.

edit: I'm happy to hand over the funds to a neutral third party (say, Colm, or someone else) while the bet is ongoing if that's putting people off. Is it?

You can lodge the tenner into my bank if you have internet banking / go to the bank, or post it to me, or paypal it to me (paypal have some overhead which you'd have to pay...I set it up to receive money for the tsunami victims all that time ago and they shafted us for their share, despite me asking them not to....assholes). Not sure how much it is, but I'm sure they have it documented. Or lastly, I'll be at Paddys thing on Sunday week.

I would wait to collect the money 'til it's over....but these things tend to get very messy when that happens.

Anyway, you can PM me which way suits best and I'll send you details.

Two bags, 1 with names of contender asia contestants, 1 with names of pool participants.
Draw name from pool participants bag.
Draw two names from contender asia bag.
Take note.
Rinse.
Repeat.

I started another pool like this on irishthaiboxing.com, so there's a chance i could loose 20euro instead

Well we all know who's already in the final 4, so would be cool if we could space out who gets those guys, but if you want to give me two of them then im totally in favour of that!

Yodsenklai for the win, dont think anyone can touch him in the group

to go along with Andrew M, it might be an idea to seed the fighters, that way everybody gets a 1st and 2nd seed fighter, might make the craic last longer for everybody involved, and it wouldn't be too hard to have two goups of fighters rather than one when making the draw

I'd bow to all of your collective superior knowledge re. the seeding

Whatever the majority think on the seeding. Even without seeding, most people should last a while with 2 fighters each.

I'm happy enough to go with chance personally. I honestly wouldn't be able to pick the top 8.

Me neither, but seeding is a good idea. I used to run tournament pools for World Cups etc. in my job and we used to organise it that way.

Might be down to Paddy or Bridgestone Man to pick a top and bottom 8 and you'll always have underperformers and wild cards in that. I remember the lad who got Greece in the last Euros in my place cursing his luck for example! I'll go along with the majority though I'm easy as long as ABP:D

Paddy: If you want to suggest the top 8, I'll stick them in a separate bag and give 1 of top 8 and one of bottom 8 to everyone. Otherwise it'll be the luck of the draw.
