Ok, here it is...at what point do you become just too old to start getting pierced?? Im thinkin of gettin my first piercing but kinda think "seriously, what are you thinking". Maybe I should start a poll....(a) never too old (b) eh, grow up (c) uh oh, mid life crisis looming.

I can easily see how "older" people who started young continuing to get pierced into their old age but what about starting to get pierced?

(does any of this make sense?)

Think I've even heard of them tattooing makeup onto corpses to make them more presentable (no idea why the usually makeup for corpses didn't suit) so clearly there is no upper limit as long as you still have skin to tattoo.

I'm 40 and I got a piercing and tattoo this summer, my first for both (apart from ears when I was a teenager). Not sure if I'll get any more but better late than never :)

Cheers folks. I guess I'm just lookin for a bit of encouragement :). And this is probably the right forum for that (if a bit biased on the subject :D ). Thanks again, now just to go and muster up the b*lls to go and do it...

    Go for it aido! :)

Just think carefully about what you want done and make sure it's definately what you want.

If it's just a piercing, and you don't like it, fair enough ya can take it out and it may close up again.

If it's a tattoo, just put plenty thought into it!

And I think it'd be scary thinking about your first one no matter what age you are! :)

Definitely go for it - my dad got his first tat in his late 50s and my mother is thinking of getting one too (she's the only left without one at this stage in the family!) and he loves it so much he's persuaded a load of his mates to try their first tattoo too (all in their late 40's and 50s). At least with piercings if you decide it's not for you you can whip it back out again.

    Im 35 (and a half :D)

Personally, I didnt think there was an age limit but when I mentioned it, my other half kinda looked at me like I had lost the plot altogether. So that got me wondering.

But, from what Im hearing here, maybe Im not really insane after all :D

She's probably just thinking that it's a mid-life-crisis thing so just go ahead and do it, then do something REALLY crazy for your mid-life-crisis.;)

You're quite a bit younger than my aunt when she got her first piercing and tattoo :)

Isn't that where you get a sports car and drop your partner for a 20 year old?*
    :D;):p

*and come crawling back to them later when the 20 year old gets bored
