[Req] Advise on return journey with two difference airlines

    Hi All,

I’m planning to fly Dublin to Rome. For timing purposes, it suits me better to fly out with Ryanair and come back with Aer Lingus. I’m aware they use 2 different airports in Rome and that I’ll probably have to pay excessive luggage charges.

Can I ask is anyone aware of any hidden nasty with doing this that I haven’t spotted? Has anyone bad experience and if yes, what can be done going forward to prevent it?

    Thanks In Advance

Nothing to stop you from doing that if you so want :)

You're booking two one way flights, subject to normal taxes and charges.

I've often flown out on one airline and returned on another and can assure you there are no nasty extra charges for doing so.

Most airlines these days charge per trip so a return is just 2x one way tickets anyway, there is no penalty for just booking one-way with FR or EI.

They both now charge for all checked luggage and it is cheaper to pay for this online. The expensive excess luggage charges would be if you go over the limit set by each airline.
EI and FR have different baggage allowances before charging excess fees, 20kg checked and 6kg hand with EI, 15kg checked and 10kg hand with FR.
