    seen ps3 on gamestop new for $399 with 1 game?Do ye know if they are region free heard the xbox 360s are

    Neither console is region free. Most games for both are region free however.

    PS3 games are region free but if you buy American PS3 it will not play PAL PS2 games or DVDs.
    It'l play US PS2, DVDs and Blu-Rays.

    (I think) so long as the TV the PS3 is connected to was made in the last 7 - 8 years, it shouldn't have any problems with NTSC/Pal compatability

    So long as the game isn't region encoded, you shouldn't do. Even if they are, it's easy to import games from the U.S... but some retailers won't take American games in trade.

    Warranty won't cover the console out of the region it's made for... but PS3 failure rates have been low so far.

    Some Blu-ray Discs are region free, some aren't As with games, they're not hard to import.
