hi, thinking of buying this camera on the weekend for xmas. (the s5800). I'm pretty young and it will be travelling to parties etc. Problem is its a little bulky but the features are a sellar also it looks solid (not likely to suffer as much damage compared to a compact). But the thought of a nice compact with similar features i can put in my pocket for parties, holidays etc would be nice. Any recomendations? i was recommended to s5700 but seems its not stocked anymore.
Does anybody here own a fuji similar to that? maybe give me some feedback on ease of use etc. I know a bit about photography i just cant keep up with all the latest and greatest! my budget is 250euro max.
Bear in mind the fuji comes with everything to get you going.

    Hows it going!
My sister has that one and i have a fujifilm 6500s. I'm no expert but i can tell you i think it's a fantastic wee camera. Great quality pictures and it gives you a good bit more to play with than a comapct! I can't really fault either of them to be honest and at that sort of money it's hard to see how you could go wrong.
Now in saying that the only thing i ever heard her complain about is excactly what your saying, although it's not too big, it's still a bit bulky for carrying too parties and nightsout. She always feels that she spends her nights keeping an eye on it because you can't excactly leave it down somewhere. Thats it's only fault. So it depends how much are going to be taking it out with you. Personally i think you can't go wrong with it.
    Good luck
p.s. you would have it mastered in a coule of days.

hey, thanks i went up to bllanch bought it there for 259euro. I priced in town but the sales assistant offered to upgrade the memory card to a 2GB SD so i was well pleased!
Anyway i'm a bit of a beginner so i'm going to post up a new thread soon asking plenty of q's on things like ISO etc....
thanks again! i had narrowed down to ixus 70 too but it just didn't feel right

Are you sure about the memory card? I thought Fujis only used XD cards? If they've changed to SD then that's great, cos SD is cheaper :)

I recently bought a S5800 - haven't used it much yet, but seems like a decent camera. Only difference to the 5700 is the number of pixels.

The main alternative I looked at was the Panasonic TZ3 which is much more compact and has a wider angle, but its also more expensive and has no viewfinder which is what really put me off.
