CA Sportsline M15A4 Review

Okay, so CA has just released the Sportsline range, starting with the CA M15A4. Cheaper outter components, same CA quality on the inside. Derek and MIA was kind enough to give me one... um, after I had handed over some cash ;)

So I got it home, ripped it open and put in a battery. First sound out of it was great. It's quite the angry little beast. I've fired a TM P90 and a CA M14 and they both sound a bit like whiney old men. This will be great for a CQB battle, sounds effects are great! It comes with one high cap magazine, and a bag of about 200 BB's.

    Markings are all there :)

The reel steel cocking nandle pulls back, opening the ejection port cover and uncovering the hop up.

While we're talking about the cocking handle, it's metal, but scratched out of the box, the same with most other metal parts of the gun. I quite like the weathered and used look, but others might not.

Rear site is metal, and it's attached along with the carry handle to the top rail, removable in 5 seconds. It's a standard rail, so any scope/redot should do fine.

Now rear site has a bit of a problem, on it's lowest and highest settings, it's stable enough, but anywhere in between, it's very wobbly. I have yet had a chance to check accuracy, but this could be an issue for those that want to use the ironsites.

As you can see, there's quite a bit of play, and it's wobbly.

Next up is the front stock. It's made of plastic or cheap abs, I'm not sure. But it's very flexy. This is also where the battery is stored. I'm intending on replacing it with a R.I.S. but I'm sure it would do for those who don't want to go down that line.

    Rear stock, extended and retracted.

The rear stock is rather wobbly, it's strong enough, but most M15A4's I've handled have had a wobbly rear stock. The release button is also wobbly.

Overall the gun is very rigid, apart from both the rear and front stock. The rate of fire is nice, though I have little to compare it to right now. Accuracy wise I can't say, I've only had oppertunity to fire it at night. I'm very satisfied with my purchase so far.

Two problems, the cocking handle has jammed on me - in that it won't go all the way back. It's done it a few times, with no perceptible reason why, and the high cap has jammed, thought it was easily fixed. Still, a great purchase, and well worth the mulla :)
