MyBook Delayed Write Failure

    Hi,
I bought 2 500GB MyBook drives and they both seem to have this problem, when I transfer a big bunch of files, one of the first few files will say it has a delayed write failure and wasn't transferred properly (it will say this in a little pop up bubble near the clock). Once I click the bubble it goes and I don't get any more delayed write failures (hasn't happened yet anyway).

Anyway, I keep note of the file it says didn't write properly and it always seems to be fine, if it's a picture, it opens fine and I can see what it is, if it's a song, it plays through the whole track no probs. I usually replace that file again just incase but today, with a picture, I didn't and I hooked it up to my new laptop and was transferring from the MyBook to the new HD and it was all going fine until it had to stop, and it was the same file that caused an error and cancelled the transfer.

Has anyone experienced this problem with their mybook and is there a workaround?

    Any feedback appreciated :)

Can't say I have had any hassle with my MyBook Have you tried doing the transfer without the file, i.e. removing it all together, storing it on a flash drive until you have completed the transfer or something?

Sounds like the drive is borked.

I had a similar probelm with a Maxtor (internal) SATA HD, it used to cause these messages to pop up every 5 seconds constantly whether I was using it or not. It was really annoying and I finally f***ed the drive out the window. Fortunately I didn't have the operating system installed or it would have been even more fun >_<

I've seen the MyBook doing that but not during the actual transfer. It happened after the transfer was complete & as the drive was being turned off.

It has never actually caused a problem with any of the files though. I think it's just a USB hissy fit.
