And no matter how many times I get stuck in it I keep lickin the damn thing!

So anyone else got dodgey stories they care to shar about getting piercings stuck places?!

Member when I went in to get my hood done, and my tongue, I asked, through bluxhing cheeks can PA's get caught up with tongue/hood piercings....(my bf at the time had a PA so it was a big concern) Steve laughed and said, no, no they don't, most definately not....

ear piercings and brushing your hair never ends well, especially if you go to the hair dressers

Same with dozy bints who use a comb on the front part of your hair forgetting about the eyebrow piercing she asked you about not 5 minutes previous...

She didn't forget about it just the once.

    TWICE!

In the space of two minutes. Even though I shouted at her to stop the first time!

Owwy, if nothing else had me convinced prior to this that piercings we not for me this thread has, as I juts know I'd be the twit who not only gets it caught but manages to rip it out completely.

Cautious (so I don't catch on anything) sympathy hugs to those who've suffered.

Tongue piercings and nipple piercings don't mix

Netted shower poofs are a definite no-no near nipple piercings and also sternum surface bars *shudders*

Dying hair while having an eyebrow piercing isn't that good

What is fun is stickin a straw on yer tongue bar and shakin' it like a polaroid picture!

    Hmm,
Never go streaking in the middle of winter with a PA. That ring gets goddamn cold and takes its time to heat up!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭amazingemmet

Agree with garthv on that one heavy rings take ages to heat up.

Vibrating cockrings and gential beads don't mix.

Sternum bars and courier bags are a no-no.

Any torso peircing and trapeze doesn't mix.

Appa, boxers with holes in them and tumbling is a very dangerous combo as i found out yesterday

Cold and piercings don't mix in general! Whenever I get home from being outside in the winter my ears are purple :(

Cold and metal jewelery do not mix, a wear some large rings, including full armour rings, as a result my fingers can get quite cold if there's a chill.
Same principle as chiller plates though, large piece of metal to allow more rapid heat exchange with the air. Metal is a better conductor of heat than skin and the metal piercing/jewelery increases the surface area over which you can loose heat, as such you'll feel much colder where the piercing is, if you're in a cold place.

I know this has prob been asked to a million and one people a million and one times BUT

piercings and metal detectors at airports, do they set them off?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Gauge

Nope, I think the airport security things look for concentrated metal and I don't believe they pick up titanium. SO maybe in theory they could go off if you had a few pounds of steel hanging off one body part, but it's never happened to me.

I think the wand things are more sensitive though, the one we used in work used to go nuts when people waved it around my head.

They can be calibrated to ignore certain metals and metal signals below a certain strength (smaller amounts of the metal) as such piercings shouldn't set off the detectors, but if you had enough of them they might.
The ones in Ireland and Britain never seem to go off for example when I forget to take off my watch so the metal plate on the back of it does not generate enough of a return signal for the detector to go off.

Mine didn't, and I had to try to get well ahead of my parents in the security gates just to be sure that if it went off I'd be spared the explainations! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,875 ✭✭✭Seraphina

the only thing i've ever caught any of my piercings on was the side of a ****ing table. bent underneath to pick up my bag, and when i came back up it somehow snagged on it.
dont ask me how it happened, but i wasn't wearing a bra, and all of a sudden there was blood on my top! ick! also embarrassing to explain to the guys i was with who didn't know about it.

also usual catching nape in hair/clothes, but it was never bad. those are gone now tho. i miss em, but i prefer being able to do full contact sports :D

Me too :( The head gear used to squash my head though and it hurt when I left my studs in... hehehe...

Also getting kicked repeatedly in the stomach didn't help my bellybar!! :D (or wearing the belts during sparring)

    Ocuhieeeeeeee!!! :)

i took out a lot of my piercings 2 years ago for american football, made it easier and was less worried about stuff getting ripped. i wouldnt mind going back to full contact sports/activities. taping up isnt an option with things like nape piercings or *brain melt* microdermal thats the word.

I cover my nape with a mepore bandage if I need to- they're soooo comfy and perfect for surface piercings. Possibly impractical/expensive on a regular basis though.

makes anyone emo, goth maybe (and even then it'd depend on the rest of their choices in outfit and adornments), but emo???

It's a bit "one (full armour) ring to rule them all" ;)

"Jaffar Krii! (or however it's supposed to be spelled)" is the response I usually get from people.

Nah, they're completely blunt, my real nails however I will regularly draw blood with when I scratch.:(
Even at times when I rush using the urinal....:(

Rubbing the eye is probably the most risky thing with them though...

Thumbnails are about 1.3 inches (back to the root, or at least where they're all under the skin) long talons filed to a point and since I'll be on holidays for most of December I'm growing the rest of the nails back to the same (since managers can't complain about my appearance when on holidays).
In other words; you may have talent, but I have talons! :D

Management tend to leave me alone about the thumbnails simply because I rarely deal with people outside the company and most people have acknowledged how useful the nails are. All my nails being like that was considered too much though. :(

Being so long and with no flat perpendicular to the direction of movement when you go to pick things up means no dirt tends to get under them and even if it does I can just use a nail on the other hand to get it out no problem. Hard to explain really but it also just feels "me".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,183 ✭✭✭✭Will

crazy, i know some people used to grow long thumbnails so they could mix heroin on them. or for guitars, but wow theyre long. i pick my nails :( i hates it

got headlocked/hugged today almost yelled at the person
