Endocrine response to phsyical exercise

    Hey guys,

Short but probably not so simple question, what aspects of exercise determine the endocrine response produced by it? i.e. What is it about squats that cause the pituitary to release growth hormone?

Is it due to the exercise using a large number of muscles and not just isolating a few? Just curious, its probably a tough question as a glance through some of my college textbooks came up dry on the topic. Its more of a kineseology question than physiology (my course) i suppose.

Any help/ideas/contributions would be greatly appreciated.

    -Bobby
