    Hi all,
Got a 16 gig USB key and having problems transferring data on and off.

Basically the key is recognised as a regular key and I transfer data on to it.

Then when I try to transfer it back off it is corrupted and unrecognisable?:(

Try formatting it and using it in a different USB port.

    Done and done.

    Formatted and cleaned up.

Someone suggested partitioning it or that it could be the driver.

What's the make and model of the key? Is it one of those SD readers?

No make, bought it off E bay.

Also now, when I disconnect it it wipes all the data on the key.

It's fairly cheap for 16GB worth (a bit too cheap) so can I suggest this...

have you tried it on a different computer to see if it's a driver issue?

oh it's prob the drive itself so i'd say. unfortunately as the king would say, return to sender... :)

vista seems to be pretty pissy when it comes to recognising usb keys anyway (i have about 8/9 at this stage and vista will only recognise 2 of them)

recently picked up a 4gb on ebay for €10 shipped from limerick, works great, dirt cheap (unless you need bigger than 4gb)
