I'm looking for an steel string acoustic guitar, strung for a left hand player, for my brother for christmas.

at the moment i'm playing a Taylor 110 and was hoping to get something similar but they are out of the my range.

He's a complete newbiew to playing guitar but would like to invest in a decent guitar that will last a lifetime and gets better as time goes by. he's got big hands so would ideally like something with a wider fret. I used to have a Takamine but found the fret to narrow and the action was very hard.

    what do you recommend?

    Thanks!

    A Yamaha, perhaps.

Action is something that will vary from guitar to guitar. Have the guitar set up somewhere after you get it. Generally the action can be raised or lowered.

True, you cant really go wrong with a Yamaha in my opinion. Check out something like this one maybe

I have this guitar and I'd recommend it. It has pickup and tuner built in and should serve well for years to come.

I got a very nice Tanglewood acoustic in Musician Inc around this time last year for ~400.
Solid Spruce Top, mahogany back and sides. Sounds beautiful.
Well worth popping in to check out their range.
