    Hi all

    We are heading to Tenerife at the end of January for some badly needed r+r!!

    Any suggestions for places away form the usual canary islands hoo haa??

    Los Gigantes: Very impressive cliff formation west of Las Americas.

    El Teide: Spain's tallest mountain, it's a snowcapped volcano and on a clear day you can see all the other islands from it. On a cloudy day, you'll be above the clouds but will still see Roque Nueblo in Gran Canaria which looks great when shrouded in cloud.

    Head up to the north to Santa Cruz, where Christopher Columbus landed before setting off on his journey to find the Western Passage. The north is spectacular, verdant and completely different to the commercialism of the south of the island.

    Hire a car and explore. Worth every penny.
